The main
ORANGE varieties belong to the Navel Family (Navelina, Washington Navel and Navelate), the fruits are large in size and spherical in shape, the navel is moderately prominent. Its dark orange pulp is firm. They are very juicy with a remarkable flavour, they are seedless and suitable both for juicing and for eating.
CLEMENTINES, famous for their unmistakable flavour, are grown above all in the Taranto area. The fruit is medium in size, its pulp is firm, juicy and orange, it is sweet and
seedless.
CITRUS ORGANOLEPTIC AND NUTRITIONAL VALUES.Citrus fruits are high energy-giving because their sugars (saccharose, fructose and glucose) can be easily assimilated. Their energy value is about 40-45 cal/10gr. They are rich in vitamin C, very important for growth and for those people who practice sports.
Moreover they are helpful in preventing colds and fever.
Citrus fruits are a precious source of Vitamin B1, B2, PP, pro vitamin A and E, moreover they have anti allergic, anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties.
ADVICE FOR GOOD STORAGE
The citrus fruits have a very good storage, till several weeks. In winter, it’s just enough storage them in fresh place even outside, do not keep the fruit in too warm place because it loses the quality and the consistency of the flesh
